Beading Tips 1 - nak letak harga...

Salam Ramadhan Kareem...

Apa kabar budies kak kuntum?. Ada yang nampak anak bulan ker?. Takpa jgn risau kalau nampak anak bulan awal.. nanti bila anak bulan 'dah tukar' (tetiba teringat sathiya) posa balik no. jangan lupa ganti tau! jangan diamalkan selalu ganti posa masa bulan syaaban, takut takdan (takdan - tak sempat dlm loghat kedah).

Oklah go back to the actual post (orang kampung kak kuntum memang cakap.mcm ni.. 'pintu gate, pi merket',) cita mengenai nak letak harga jahitan manik. Kak kuntum pun masa once upon a time (speaking lqgi!) pun menggagau (tau ka apa maksud menggagau? ertinya macam mencari cari)  nak letak harga. Masa gi belajar manik kelas 'a' tak bagitau pun. Masa gi belajar kat kelas 'b' ada la bagi tau sikit skit. bla bla bla banyak tempat, banyak kaedah diaorang letak harga. Kak kuntum ada juga bertanya pada sifu sifu aka yang pandai jahit. ada yang nak bagitau, ada yang terus reject application kak kuntum . sedey you...
Itu pengalaman kak kuntum, yang kes baru belajar ambik tempahan pulak... ada juga yang berterus terang pada kak kuntum... tanya macam mana nak letak harga, mintak pendapat. Ada juga yang pakai kias fansuri .. orang melayu kita memang banyak bahasa kiasan sangat!. Ada yang email @ sms tanya design (konon cam nak tempah.. padahal kita tahu dia nak tanya design camni brapa upahnyer..ekeke) alahai dik nun... bukannya nak berkira tapi kalau berterus terang lagi baik rasanya. Kadang-kadang ada yang kantoi sebab tak abis belajar menipu. (achaner to johan?)
Kak kuntum setakat hari ini masih lagi waras rasanya.  Untuk peringatan: ini sekadar panduan. yang baik .. ikut, yang tak baik lupakan.ni sekadar panduan macam byellow pages. Dan sekiranya ada yang lebih baik, jom kongsi. Ingatlah.. ilmu & rezeki itu rahsia AllahSWT. Takkan rugi kita berkongsi ilmu yang memberikan manfaat. sekiranya kita tak dapat balasan, mungkin anak pinak kita ka, cucu cicit kita ker dapat balasan yang baik. ok sekian tazkirah kak kuntum pada minggu kedua Ramadhan 2013..

Haa mesti korang start berkata kata kan dalam hati... kata nak share tapi membebel jer. siap tazkirah bagai. tak baik ooo. lebih baik minta maaf cepat kat kak kuntum. cepat! cepat!
Tapi jangan risau .. kak kuntum dah maafkan dan juga kak kuntum halalkan ilmu juga design jahitan kak kuntum untuk digunakan sebagai idea jahitan korang. Ambillah. Gunalah! Satu jer pinta kak kuntum, sharelah pada orang lain. moga ilmu Allah ini terus berkembang dan dapat membantu ekonomi Islam secara langsung dan tak langsung!. (pss: kalau baik hati.. bagilah info pada kak kuntum, sekurang2 bolehla tengok hasil kerja dik.nun senua... k?!)

tips #1
Kebanyakan beaders yang kak kuntum kenal part time. so harga yang dipratikkan juga adalah sebagai part timer jugak... kira brapa jam kita menjahit. contohnya kita menjahit 2jam/hari darabkan dengan RM8.00/jam @ RM10 ikutlah ke'terror'an kita. jadi kalau kita ambil masa 4 hari
kiraannya: 4 x 2 x rm10 = RM80.00
itu baru upah, tak termasuk harga manik. so kalau anda pakai manik 10g x 3 jenis x harga manik berapa. contohnya: 3 jenis manik (design: taburan blingbling) x rm3.90 = RM11.70
total upah kita kenankan adalah RM80 + RM11.70 = RM91.70
Buatlah round figure jadi RM95 @ RM90 (bagi diskaun skit...)

tarif ni tak termasuk harga emergency... ada kes yang hantar lambat, tapi nak cepat. kita terpaksa potong que, so tambahlah sikit dalam 10% - 20% ikut keadaan dan design.

harga adik beradik dan kawan rapat juga berbeza... selalu nak mintak diskaun kan (betul tak? mesti betul sebab selalunya betul ha ha) so penyelesaiannya juga bagilah diskaun 10% atau 20% ikut ke'akrab'an kita dengan mereka.

Sekiranya terdapat apa apa kesalahan, tegurlah saya untuk saya baiki lagi kerja saya dan seterusnya boleh berkongsi lagi dengan anda semua.

Pada permulaan zaman memanik saya, saya banyak memperuntukkan manik dari jenis hex. Warna kegemaran saya waktu itu: warna emas dan perak, dan saya membeli dalam kuantiti yang banyak (100gms), kononnya banyak nak guna nanti!.

Introduction

Beading is a fun and potentially addictive craft and yet can earn an income from beading if you serious about it (part timers also can make moneyJ).

If this is your first foray into world of beads, WELCOME to the world of BLING BLING!!

There will be new techniques to learn – although you may find that you already have many skills required to become a successful beader. For your info, I am still learning about beads, new techniques and new ideas. Whatever you level of expertise there are plenty of projects to inspire and try. Please do not stop learning because as we learn actually there are a lot of things that we don’t know.

The bead project is divided into a few groups, each using a different set of skills: bead loom work, needle weaving, fringes, tassels, bead embroidery and wirework. You might start with something you’re familiar with or take the plunge and learn a completely new technique. In this introduction, I will focus on bead embroidery which is I familiar with.

Those new to the craft should begin with something simple, and learning new skills as you go. Experienced beaders, appreciates if you can drop your comments to improve or correct me if I am wrong.

Manik merupakan satu cabang kraftangan yang menyeronokkan dan berpotensi untuk  menjana pendapatan jika anda serius mengenainya (bukan sahaja pemanik sepenuh masa/ separuh masa juga boleh mendapat pendapatan lumayan).
Jadi, sekiranya ini adalah penglibatannya pertama anda ke dunia manik, SELAMAT DATANG ke dunia BLING BLING!!
Terdapat banyak teknik-teknik baru untuk belajar - walaupun anda mungkin mendapati bahawa anda sudah mempunyai kemahiran yang diperlukan untuk menjadi pemanik berjaya. Untuk maklumat anda, saya sendiri masih belajar tentang manik, teknik-teknik baru dan idea-idea baru. BAnyak lagi terdapat kepakaran dan teknik teknik dan terdapat banyak projek-projek untuk memberi inspirasi dan untuk dicuba. Usah berhenti belajar kerana semakin kita belajar sebenarnya terdapat banyak lagi perkara yang kita tidak tahu.
Projek manik dibahagikan kepada beberapa kumpulan, masing-masing dengan menggunakan satu set kemahiran yang berbeza: bead loom work, needle weaving, fringes, tassels, bead embroidery and wirework. Anda mungkin bermula dengan sesuatu yang anda sudah biasa dengan atau mengambil risiko dan belajar satu teknik yang benar-benar baru. Kita mulakan yang asas dahulu yek. minggu lepas saya membeli majalah BeadStyleMag vol.9, issue 2 . Walaupun majalah dipasaran (mengenai manik khasnya) lebih ertumpu kepada pembuatan perhiasan (jewelery making), namun ada kalanya kita boleh mneaplikasikan corak dan design yang ada pada busana kita. Cuma pada saya, rasanya tak semua manik yang terdapat dalam majalah keluaran luar negara dapat kita perolehi di sini (ataupun mungkin saya sendiri yang kurang 'menjelajah' segala kedai di Malaysia kot). Assalamualaikum everyone.

So sorry it was long time I didn't update anything. My weekend class has just started, I'm having severe constipation problem (actually I had suffered this since my eldest son's one month old and he is now 9 years old!) and currently my husband was admitted into hospital. Never mind, just a challenge for me to be more alert and stronger. Thanks to Allah who give me this strength and passion and everything. Alhamdullilah everything will be on track soon. I hope all of you can pray for the best for me, my family and for all of us ya!

Bling bling tips & thoughts for you today...

Tiger eye is a beautiful, warm honey-brown chatoyant gemstone. The gemstone is a quartz type material that has tiny needle-like internal structures. Because of the structure of tiger eye, light appears to shimmer or jump across the surface as the polished stone is moved under a light source. Cats-eye, a form of chrysoberyl has the same reflective quality. I did use it sometimes, but when it comes to budget, there's a limit for it.

Pearl is an accident of nature, created by a mollusk to defend itself from the irritating effects of an unwelcome grain of sand. The animal secretes a protective substance (nacre) to shield its delicate body from the invader.

An original pearl is a hard, rounded object produced by certain mollusks, such as oysters. The pearl is a valued gemstone and is cultivated or harvested for jewelry. Natural pearls are formed when a small foreign object, such as a parasite, grain of sand, or piece of food lodges itself in the gonad or mantle tissue of a mollusk or oyster.

Psst... do you dare to put real pearl on your dress???

But did you ever stop to wonder why there are so many scissors on the market and what the differences are? Let’s take a look at the different kinds of scissors and why you might want one over the other.

Scissors are hand operated cutting instruments. They consist of a pair of metal blades connected in such a way that the sharpened edges slide against each other. Scissors are used for cutting various thin materials, such as paper, cardboard, metal foil, thin plastic, cloth, rope and wire. Scissors can also be used to cut fabrics, hair and food. Scissors and shears exist in a wide variety of forms depending on their intended uses. Children's scissors, used only on paper, have dull blades to ensure safety. Scissors used to cut hair or fabric must be much sharper. The largest shears used to cut metal or to trim shrubs must have very strong, sharp blades.

Specialized scissors include sewing scissors, which often have one sharp point and one blunt point for intricate cutting of fabric, and nail scissors, which have curved blades for cutting fingernails and toenails. A good pair of sewing scissors is a pleasure to use. A bad pair of sewing scissors is miserable and ineffective. Scissors are fundamental to sewing, so take the time to get the good kind.
Protect your sewing scissors. Never use them to cut paper, except for the thin tissue that sewing patterns are made from. Keep them in your sewing kit, away from children who might try to use them for craft projects. Use a permanent marker to write on the sides "fabric only" so that you and your family can easily tell the difference. Have separate scissors available for cutting paper. Don't use good fabric scissors to cut paper or anything besides fabric. Paper dulls scissors very quickly. Please and don't drop your scissors. it will make your scissors not sharp as before.
Scissors can be sharpened. If you know how to use a whetstone, you can do it yourself. Otherwise, ask the manufacturer if they will sharpen scissors or ask knife sharpeners in your area if they can do it. Not all will.

Consider having a couple of different pairs of scissors for different tasks. Embroidery scissors and tailor's shears perform different tasks well.Get left-handed scissors if you are left-handed. It is worth the extra effort to find them. (source: WIKIPEDIA)

let see what I have here.... Let me elaborate a bit about the stone. correct me if the info is wrong, but this is all that i know so far. i will update it if any additional info in the future. and i welcome any idea and info too.

stone's widely used in various kinds of garments and jewelery items, wedding dress, crafts, gifts set etc. Acrylic stone or some of you may called rhinestones are made of plastic and produced in molds. some of the rhinestones come with a platinum foil on the back for extra brilliance and protection. acrylic stone is an imitation stone and much cheaper from glass stone. then you buy this acrylic stone, i recommended that you ask the shop's owner whether the best for sewing purpose. this is because, some of the acrylic stones are made for crafts work. price depends on the size of the stone and quality. as alternative we can use crystal or glass stone. glass stone will make your creations look more grudge but very nice as a highlight to your bed works. glass stone is shinning that the imitation stones. this might influence the price, i think..

i recommend using needles that are as this as possible for hand sewing ( i used needle no 11). this is makes it easier to pull the needle through the holes in the stones or the beads. one particularly important factor is the choice of the right needle, thread, correct color of the beads and stones. variety stone and beads will make your design more bling bling. thread should same color with the fabrics and if you used stone either acrylic or glass stones, make sure using same color with the stone. stones normally have two holds and if the stone is big enough it will have four holes. do not mix the stones with other stones.

Glass beads are a fascinating, beautiful creation. They have functioned as currency, gifts, works of art, and symbols of high status. They are recorded as being created, traded, and worn as jewelry by the earliest civilized societies, from Egyptians to Romans, Vikings to Indians. There are nearly as many types of glass beads as there are colors in the spectrum.

Some beads are dyed,galvanized or plated. The colors on the outer layers may come off, rubbed, or if soaked in the strong solvent.
Silverline or galvanized beads are oxidized while apply on certain fabrics that are acidic, they may decay or turn dark due to the chemical change. In order to avoid such case, neutralize your fabrics and threads before embroidering.

Not all beads available in Malaysia (as far that I know), normally I buy beads from Zai (zaimanik.fotopages.com) and few shops around KL (email me if you want to know the actual shop).
